It has taken a long time but we have completed our first basic rooms!
It has taken a little longer than we expected but we have the first basic rooms completed. As you can see from the below they are pretty close to the original renders that we published at the beginning of 2023.Differences from Designs
One of the main differences between the original plans to the current rooms is that we have not yet put up storage shelves. This is something we’re still keen to do but needed to focus on getting the rooms finished.
We have also not yet put a cover on the terraces which we have opted to build from pallets rather than wood as they have proven to be a little easier to get hold of and are faster to work with.
Finally, the terraces currently vary in size one with 8sqm and two with 6sqm. We’ll adjust depending on what feedback we get.
What they are like to stay in
We’ve stayed in the basic rooms for a few weeks as construction has carried on and they are surprisingly comfortable.
- {Size} One person you have a good amount of space. Two is ok but a little crowded especially for storage so we need to get some shelves sorted out;
- {Bathroom} The showers are amazing, pressure wise and hot water wise you’re not going to be dissapointed;
- {Temperature} The rooms do not get super hot which is great. The A/c is working really well with the rooms. It is almost silent and the room is cool in about 5-10 minutes from switching it on;
- {Access control} The smart locks on the doors have been really great, no keys to lose is awesome;
- {Noise} The double glazing and insulation/cladding keeps most noise out but there are a few cracks that we need to seal up to try to reduce some of the higher frequency noises;
- {Desk} I found the desk good to work at, with both my laptop and an external portable monitor I still had space for other things and the office chair was pretty comfy;
What’s next?
We’re currently working on finishing our standard rooms. They’re very very close and we’ve just finished our office!
